GNO.....pre-teen/teen style

In December, Jessica asked if she could have a "just for fun" party with some of her friends. I told her, that is what you call a Girls Night Out---GNO---and, yes, we could have one, but lets wait until after Christmas.....so, she held me to it....a couple of weeks ago we looked at the calendar and decided that last night would be the night! We had 11 girls (ages 12 and 13) over for Jessica's GNO. Matthew was kind enough to watch Star Wars up in our bedroom with Jared and Kayleigh....and those two were good to let Jessica have the downstairs. (we did let the movie watchers come down to gather a few treats!---we had plenty....wish I had taken a picture of all the food!) The girls had fun playing Apples to Apples, Mafia, and Psychiatrist....and also, dancing, singing, and just visiting and hanging out. It was fun to do! I think all the girls had fun.

Lunch for Jared

Making lunches for Jared is a difficult task....this kid is sooooo picky....he won't eat fruits, doesn't like a few hour old sandwiches....he wont buy lunch (too nervous)....anyway, it is rather difficult. We did find for a while that he likes raisins....so, that became his fruit for a while in his lunch....but when he kept bringing them home, I realized he had grown tired of them....so, here comes the story.....


Wednesday afternoon.....
Jared: "Mom, you should have given me raisins in my lunch today."


Thursday morning....
(KeriLyn is making lunch for Jared....remembers he specifically has requested raisins.....I am no dumby....when he is asking, he will receive!.....so, I put raisins in his lunch)

Jared: "Mom, what did you give me for lunch?"

KeriLyn: listing off the things in his lunch, and part of it "raisins".

Jared: "Oh, I didn't need raisins today. The health teacher was in the lunch room yesterday seeing what healthy stuff we had in our lunch. She probably wont be there today!!!!!"

As I was making Jared's lunch today, I started thinking about that, and got a good laugh again, so just thought I would share that with all of you!!!!

Addiction

To really know me, you must know that I have an addiction.....I AM ADDICTED TO COLD CEREAL!!!! I am not sure why, but I love cold cereal.....I would eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I could.....perhaps it is because it is easy.....perhaps it is because of the 1/2 cup of sugar I put on it (not really.....Coco Puffs don't need sugar!).....what ever it is, I love cold cereal. Well, in an effort to lose weight, and get healthier, I have decided to limit my cold cereal intake to one morning a week! This is SUPER HARD FOR ME!!! But, this has been my first week for it, and I did it.....today was the first time since last Sunday that I had cold cereal.....Sundays will become my cold cereal day, because that seems to be the day that I have less time in the mornings to make eggs or whatever.....Anyway, as I was eating my cold cereal this morning, I was enjoying every minute of it! I love my cold cereal!!!! It was a wonderful morning!!!!

BIGGEST LOSER.....BIG FRUSTRATION!!!

WHY IS THIS GIRL STILL ON THE RANCH???? DOES ANYONE ELSE WATCH BIGGEST LOSER? I WAS SO READY FOR JOELLE TO BE VOTED OFF!!!! I AM UPSET WITH JILLIAN'S TEAM.....PERHAPS THE SHOW PAID OFF THE PLAYERS TO VOTE THIS WAY JUST FOR GOOD RATINGS......JUST GET HER OUT OF THERE!!!!

Why am I so excited?

My favorite TV show is back on....after way to long of being off! Matthew and I look forward to watching another season of 24!!!

YOU DID WHAT????

Matthew had meetings last night at the church (he is exec. secretary).....he called me about 1/2 hour after he left, and said that he had SHREDDED HIS TIE IN THE PAPER SHREDDER!!!! Are you serious???? Of course, everyone, including the Bishop got a good laugh out of this.....one of the counselors was suggesting that he could wear this on Sunday, and start a new trend!!! How funny! The story.....apparantly, he was moving the shredder....it had been placed in front of the filing cabinet that he needed to get into.....and, the next thing he knew, it had him!!! Can you just imagine! Oh, I am laughing so hard!!! He is bummed because, honestly he loves this tie.....he even asked for and got a new pair of blue dress pants for Chrismas just so he could wear this tie again!
Kayleigh thinks that he could have made up a better story for it, though....when she saw the tie, she said it looked like a raccoon did it!

Ice Skating

We have had a fun week....a vacation at home! Yesterday we went ice skating! I have to admit, I was not so sure this would be a wonderful experience....but, when we voted bowling or ice skating, I was out-voted 4 to 1 ! So, we went ice skating....to my surprise, it was a fun, fun outing! Jared amazed me the most! He was skating by himself all over the place!--He also decided he loves to fall down on the ice! He would fall and laugh hysterically! It was a game for him....not my son, that is for sure! I do anything I can to not fall! Kayleigh did quite well, too....let go a few times. And, Jessica did well, too....once she got use to being on the ice again!

In addition to ice skating this week, we went glow in the dark mini golfing on Tuesday, and tonight we went out to eat at IHOP....our vacation at home is coming to a close! It will be hard to wake up to an alarm again and get back into a schedule....we have had a Christmas break from school!

Spontanious Celebrating!

Just before leaving for ice skating yesterday afternoon, we decided we should really do some New Years Eve celebrating with some friends....so, we called our friends, the Stokes, to see if they wanted to come over and join us for some games and snacks! It was a fun night....we love having good friends who allow us to be spontanious! We played Ticket to Ride....while we had a video set up in the living room for the younger kids.

The Stokes left around 11:30....we quickly cleaned up, then turned on the TV to watch the NY celebration! Jessica was very very very happy to bring in the new year with the Jonas Brothers!!!! and Demi Lovato

It's 2009! It's midnight....time to go to bed!!!!

Christmas all over again!

One thing that has been fun about having a sudden change of plans for Christmas, is that presents have come to us in shifts! The kids were excited to have more presents to open from Grandma and Grandpa this past Monday!

The kids each got a book from Grandma and Grandpa.....Jessica got a couple of backpack, and Jared and Kayleigh got book bags to bring to the library with us on our library outings. Kayleigh loves things with "her letter K" on them....so, the bag was a huge hit for her!

Included in the package were a few gifts for Matthew and KeriLyn.....My Dad gave me a very special set of scriptures, and we got money to stock our freezer with meats, and some stocking stuffers. (including a gas stove)

Christmas Eve PJs.....I was really skeptical as to whether Christmas could really happen without Christmas Eve PJs! It did, but the kids were super excited to get new Jammies on Monday! We needed to switch out a couple of the jammies for different sizes, so it was nice to have time that afternoon to go and do that before bed time! Kayleigh was disappointed that we had to go to the store though, because she had to change back into her clothes....she was quick to get her new jammies on!

Yesterday, Jessica got her cousin gift, from cousin Annie in the mail!
She got a cute hat that my sister-in-law made for her, and a Hannah Montanna date book! She loves both!
