First Timer for Everything!

Well, I just need to take a moment and brag a little....I was really in the mood for home made bread to go with our dinner tonight....so, I decided to make some....that is not the first time for that, but I decided to make some WHEAT BREAD! And, I have to say, it turned out really well. For some reason, I have always thought wheat bread is harder, but honestly, now that I have done it, I will do it more often! It was yummy!

Rain City!!!

We must be in rain country now! Anticipating the next 5 plus days that they are predicting 55* weather, and non-stop rain, I decided my kids could probably use a good pair of rain boots!!!! Aren't these just good classic rain boots??!!!!

PET FOR THE DAY!

I don't know what we did for fun before we moved here! There are so many "creatures" right in our backyard that keep my kids entertained for hours....they love finding their pet for the day! Today's pet is this woolybear caterpillar! Jared has been hoping to find a caterpillar for a while now....so, when Kayleigh and I saw it on our walk home, we picked it up....he was so happy to see it in the bucket when we picked him up from school!

I have been thinking a lot about our good family friend, Michael, and thought that I would post a picture of the table he built my family many years ago....then, Dad and Mom came to visit us a year (or two....Ican't remember) for a labor day weekend, and we sanded it down and restained it.... I am happy to say that Michael's table is doing well in our kitchen, and getting plenty of use!

Jessica was so excited to get a package in the mail today....even more excited when she opened it up to find the 7th Harry Potter book in there.....and even more excited to realize it was hers!!!! I have a feeling we wont be seeing her for a while!!! Thank you Mike and Liz!!!

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL--SEPT 4

Jessica is off to 6th grade! So far she is loving it! She loves walking to school with her neighborhood friends. I think she is loving the independence away from mom! She starts school and gets out 20 minutes earlier than Jared, so she gets to be on her own! Of course homework hasn't really picked up yet, but I have a feeling that may change her thoughts of 6th grade a little bit, but for now she seems very happy!
Jared....our little first grader....probably the cutest 1st grader at the school! But, unfortunately, not the happiest. He was telling us a couple of days before school started that he was going to be sick and wouldn't be able to go to school on the first day of school. We really think he talked himself into being sick, because Monday he had a runny nose that carried over into Tuesday, but not bad enough to keep him home. Anyway, he has come home every day saying he was crying out at recess because he can't figure out which line is his for when it is time to go back inside...this really stresses him out, and it is all he thinks about all day....poor kid. He has been coming home with his lunch being untouched, saying he wasn't hungry, but I think he is just too nervous to eat. He devours his lunch after school....then, of course, he is not hungry for dinner. I am sure things will get better as time goes on, but in the mean time we keep hoping and praying that the days will get better.

Kayleigh wont start preschool until the 17, but when it was time for Jared and Jessica to pose for pictures with their new backpacks, she had to get in on the fun, too! She claims to be excited about preshool, and riding her bus, but when it comes down to it, I have a feeling she won't be so sure about it!--In the mean time we will talk it up as much as we can!

LABOR DAY

We decided to go check out some more of the beautiful part of the country we live in. We went for an hour drive to Bridal Veil Falls in Oregon. We had fun hiking down a path that brought us to the Falls! It was gorgeous! You will have to come see it some day!!!

Christensen Family Reunion

As part of our family reunion, the ladies had an organizing class, so I put some of the new ideas I got from there to work in Kayleigh's closet with my b-day money. It was my best spent b-day money ever!!!!

A New Stage of Life??!!!!!

Looks like we may be entering a new stage of life....Matthew and I just got home from a date.....no, dates are not new for us.....we had a new BABYSITTER......JESSICA!!!! It would appear that all went well, and Jessica seemed fine with it.....Jessica is growing up and we are loving it!
