Cub Scout Day Camp and Heat Wave.....

That about sums up our week!!

Jared had his first Cub Scout Day Camp....and it happened to be the same week as a HEAT WAVE......Wednesday was the hottest day....reaching 109....but every day was right around the 100 plus mark......it was hot!!! Jared seemed to enjoy camp, though....he had fun going with his friends....he loved the "make it take it" stuff.....including making a "secret box" a dream catcher, and a wooden puzzle thing. He also has discovered that he enjoys archery. He has also realized that he takes after his dad.....HE WANTS NOTHING TO DO WITH BB GUNS. I am really ok with that.....he tried shooting it once, but really just had no desire to ever pick up a gun ever again....his sweet little spirit just can't handle the thought of holding onto a gun, I guess. So, given that, and given that Wednesday after lunch, their troop was scheduled to be shooting for the rest of the time, I picked him up at lunch time, and we headed down to Oregon to swim with Aunt Liz, Calvin and Miles.....other than that, he was at camp in this weather from 9-2 every day.....it was supposed to be 9-3, but they cut it short. I went up to help on Monday and Thursday, and Matthew went up to help on Friday. We were drinking A LOT of water!!!! Jared ready to go to camp!

This was their leader, who also happens to be a kid in our ward.....Reisin. he was great with the boys.....he really made it fun for them.

Sister Denfeld earned her spot in the group shot....she was there EVERY DAY.....she wasn't scheduled to be, but as of Monday, with the heat, she realized that there needed to be at least one consistent adult to watch over these boys, and know when the were acting differently, and needed extra water, or a trip to the nurse, etc. So, she ended up going through all these hot days with the boys.

A little bit of family advertising and bragging :)!!! My sister just moved to Portland area a couple of months ago.....yippee!!! Her husband just finished Dental school and is now practing in Tualatin. For any of you who need a dentist in the area, let me know! I will make sure you get treated well.....i would even drive you to your appointment, and go visit my sister while you are in the chair :)!!! How is that for service!!! Congrats Travis!!!.....are we on the schedule yet?

Christensen Family Runion, July 6-11

Here is the last of our vacation photos I will blog. Sorry to have over-used slide shows, but I felt like it was the best way to share all the fun memories and pictures we have.....and trust me, this is not even close to ALL the pictures we have!

This last slide show is from our Christensen family reunion. We were in Idaho, just south of McCall....on Cascade Lake. My parents rented a home right on the lake. We were all (9 siblings, spouses, and kids....and my parents) able to fit comfortably in the house! We never had a lack of fun things to do.....a lot of lake time....on the boat, tubing, jet skis, a bounce house that Mike and Liz brought....wonderful devotionals....a talent show...family fun run.....lots of cousin time, visiting time, and group games. It was a wonderful 5 days. It has been hard over the last week to get back into life again!!! We just love being with family!

Utah....with the Nash Family

We were in Utah July 1-6. We stayed in Lehi with Matthew's Dad and Peggy. They were gracious enough to have us stay there, despite Peggy not feeling well. (We hope she is doing better....and hope we didn't ware them out too much!) Each day, we got together with the "Utah Nash Family"....On Thursday we went to the Oquirrh Mountain temple open house (a beautiful temple), then we went to Michael and Sally's home for lunch and to hang out and visit and play (and it turned into dinner....thanks!). On Friday and Saturday, we hung out at Dad's home in Lehi....the group all came over at some point durring the day each day....Jessica got to spend the night at Kevin's and Darci's home each night....that was fun for her. On Sunday, we got up and headed over to the cemetery, then went on to church with Kevin and Darci....they were teaching in priesthood and Relief Society, so we decided to go be a cheering team for them! Then we went back to their home for dinner, and more game playing....inclucing, but not limited to, Don't Eat Pete and Telephone Charades. Let me tell you....if you have never played Telephone Charades, it is fun....we will have to have you join us for a party sometime....and, if you have played, well, I can guarantee it has not been as fun as playing with the Nash family!!! It was a great several days!!! I just love being with my in-laws....they are wonderful, and we have a ton of fun together!!!

We were in Utah over the 4th of July! Jessica and I had the opportunity to go to Stadium of Fire at BYU.....starring the JONAS BROTHERS!!!! It was a wonderful evening....we went with my brother, Brian, and his wife, Rachelle, and their daughters, Cami and Emma!!! The company, along with the show made for a wonderful night!!! It will be something Jessica and I will remember forever! I really got into it....my throat hurt the next morning from too much screaming!!! I wish I had a better zoom on my camera.....I ended up taking pics of the jumbo tron....but, we really had decent seats....and we loved every bit of it!!!

Babysitting Calvin and Miles

My sister and her husband went to Paris for (almost) two weeks, and we got to watch their boys, Calvin (2) and Miles (6 mos.) while they were gone. The first few days they were with us, my sister, Alisa and her husband, Ryan were staying with us, as they were in transition of moving....(only an hour and a half away from us!)....it was nice to have them here to help with the transition!!! I feel like Ryan really kept the house running!!! I felt busy the whole time, but really, I felt like every time I turned around, he was there making dinner, feeding a baby, cleaning up toys....plus he got in some Wii time!!!....It was fun to have cousins here....but, i have to admit, I am definitely out of baby mode!!!
